Adani Group Issues Statement Amid Speculations of Deal with Chinese Companies – Says No Agreement Has Been Made

New Delhi/Sources: The Adani Group has been accused of potentially collaborating with Chinese companies. However, on Monday, Adani Enterprises issued a statement addressing these allegations, clearly stating that it is not entering into any agreement with Chinese firms BYD or Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology.

The company dismissed a Bloomberg report claiming that Adani Group could be working with BYD and Beijing WeLion. Adani Enterprises described the report as baseless, incorrect, and misleading.

What Did the Company Say?

Adani Enterprises categorically stated:
“We refute the Bloomberg report dated August 4, 2025, which suggests a collaboration between the Adani Group and Chinese companies BYD and Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology. The report is baseless, incorrect, and misleading.”

The company further clarified:
“The Adani Group is not engaging in any partnership with BYD to manufacture batteries in India. Similarly, there is no discussion or agreement with Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology either.”

Why Did the Company Issue a Statement?

Bloomberg’s report claimed that the Adani Group was considering a partnership with Chinese EV company BYD to manufacture batteries in India, as part of its efforts to expand in the clean energy sector. It also reported that Group Chairman Gautam Adani himself was in talks with BYD officials.

According to the report, discussions between Adani and BYD were still at a preliminary stage and might or might not progress. It further speculated that if a deal happens, it could take place outside China due to the current strained relations between India and China.

Leverage of Affordable Battery Technology

Citing unnamed sources, Bloomberg reported that Chinese companies possess the most advanced and cost-effective battery technologies, which the Adani Group is interested in leveraging for its benefit.

The report also suggested that apart from BYD, Adani was looking to collaborate with other Chinese renewable energy firms such as Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology. While partnerships with European and South Korean companies were also possible, the report claimed that none could match Chinese firms in terms of price and quality.
