Experiencing Supreme Bliss Through Spirituality and Desire

Raipur: In spirituality, meditation is considered the highest practice. It keeps our body centered and focused. When all five of our senses—eyes, nose, tongue, ears, and touch—come together in harmony, that experience is known as Kama (desire).

The Kama Sutra teaches how to attain spirituality through complete enjoyment of life. In fact, sex is considered the peak of supreme bliss. Suppressing one’s sexual desires can lead to restlessness, frustration, and dissatisfaction in life. Desire is the very foundation of creation. Without it, the cycle of existence itself would come to a halt.

The Kama Sutra by Maharishi Vatsyayana is far more than just an erotic text. When seen with a positive perspective, it offers deep insights into life and human existence.

The Path to Inner Peace

Spiritual teacher Deepak Chopra, in his book Kama Sutra: Including the Seven Spiritual Laws of Love, writes that sexual problems such as neurosis, deviance, sexual misconduct, or even violence should be seen as consequences of obstruction, resistance, and repression—not merely as results of desire itself.

If individuals are allowed to freely explore and express their feelings and desires without external barriers, they do not intensify uncontrollably. Excess in any form is nothing but a reaction to suppression and resistance.

On a deeper level, every sexual posture carries within it a powerful spiritual interpretation. Thus, sex is not merely what we commonly understand it to be—it is an experience that redefines the meaning of joy. Only by realizing and experiencing this can one attain true inner peace.

Kama: The Third Goal of Life

Sex is the very center of creation on Earth. The Kama Sutra presents a refined philosophy for understanding art, pleasure, and the joy of living. Its 64 arts of love are not only guidance for a good wife but also a path for women to become skillful, graceful, intelligent, and empowered.

The text beautifully connects physical energy with meditation and happiness. Interestingly, the Kama Sutra is one of the three ancient treatises on human life:

  1. Dharma Shastra – which explains morality and the path of righteous living.
  2. Artha Shastra – which deals with wealth, prosperity, and material success.
  3. Kama Sutra – which describes Kama, the third essential goal of human life, emphasizing love, desire, and fulfillment.

Thus, through the lens of spirituality, Kama is not indulgence—it is the art of experiencing supreme bliss, balance, and ultimately, inner peace.
