IAS Ranbir Sharma Takes Charge as 14th Collector of Gariaband District

Gariaband: Newly appointed Collector Ranbir Sharma officially assumed charge of Gariaband district today at the district office, taking over responsibilities from outgoing Collector B.S. Uikey. On this occasion, outgoing Collector Mr. Uikey presented a bouquet to Mr. Sharma, offering his congratulations and best wishes for the new role. Notably, 2012-batch IAS officer Ranbir Sharma has been appointed as the 14th Collector of Gariaband district. Prior to this assignment, he was serving as the Director of Social Welfare.

Following the handover, district-level officers and employees warmly welcomed Collector Sharma with floral bouquets. The Collector held introductory discussions with the officials present and reviewed the general progress of ongoing development projects in the district. Emphasizing his priorities, Mr. Sharma stated that the 100% and effective implementation of government schemes will be his top focus to ensure benefits reach every citizen.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Prakhar Chandrakar, Additional Collectors Mrs. Risha Thakur and Naveen Bhagat, along with all SDMs and heads of various departments. Immediately after taking charge, Collector Mr. Sharma chaired an introductory meeting with departmental officers in the district office conference room to issue initial directions.

• Birth & Education: Born on September 7, 1981, IAS Ranbir Sharma originally hails from Haryana. After completing his B.Sc. in Physics and B.Ed., he cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2011 and joined the 2012 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), allocated to the Chhattisgarh cadre.

• Administrative Career: Mr. Sharma officially joined the IAS service on September 3, 2012. He received his initial field training as an Assistant Collector in Bilaspur district, followed by his posting as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Bhanupratappur (Kanker district). He subsequently served as Under Secretary in the School Education Department in Raipur.

• Key Responsibilities: He has previously served as Collector for the Bemetara and Surajpur districts. Additionally, Mr. Sharma has held key administrative positions including Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Milk Federation, as well as Joint Secretary in the Agriculture Department and the Chhattisgarh State Watershed Area Management Agency.
