Chhattisgarh Chunav 2023: Naxalites attacked polling party, an ITBP soldier martyred

Gariaband: A major incident has taken place in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. Naxalites have carried out IED blast in the district. In which an ITBP soldier has been martyred. It is being told that Naxalites have attacked the polling party returning after the elections. According to initial information, this blast took place near Bade Gobra of Gariaband. Police force is present on the spot.

Police officials said that Naxalites detonated a landmine in the forest of Bade gobra village of Mainpur police station in the district, due to which the head constable of India Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Joginder Singh, who was protecting the polling party, lost his life in this incident. . He said that a large number of security personnel have been deployed in Naxal-affected Gariaband district for the second phase of voting in the state.

Voting took place till 3 o’clock

Police officials said that when the polling party was being brought to Mainpur police station after the polling ended at 3 pm at Bade gobra polling station under Bindranawagarh assembly constituency, Naxalites detonated a landmine seven kilometers before Mainpur. He told that Singh died in this incident.

He said that the polling team was taken out after the incident. All the members of the polling party are safe and have reached Mainpur police station. Officials said that voting was held from 7 am to 3 pm in nine polling stations of Naxal-affected Bindranawagarh seat – Kamarbhaudi, Aamamora, Odh, Bade gobra, Ganwargaon, Gariba, Nagesh, Sahbinkachhar and Kodomali. And at other polling stations the voting time was from 8 am to 5 pm. The second phase of voting was completed on 70 assembly seats of Chhattisgarh on Friday. Voting for 20 out of total 90 seats in the state was held on the 7th of this month.
